However, gone are the days of the round brilliant cut diamond being the most popular shape for this style of ring. We’re seeing many more requests for fancy cut diamonds, such as oval, cushion cut, and emerald cut diamonds. Quite frequently, they’re set with shoulder stones especially when the center stone is under 5 cts, which make the main stone appear larger and provide more diamond coverage across the span of the ring.
Another popular option is mounting the diamond in an East-West setting; a beautiful modern adaptation of a classic design, where the orientation of the stone allows for the longer side of the stone to be set parallel to the ring band.
