The House of Dehres is a widely recognized enterprise renowned in the world of diamond, gems, and high jewelry. But it is also so much more than that.
Starting with a humble beginning, our founders Ephraim and Hannah Zion created not only a high jewelry house but also a home* where their finest goods reside and esteemed clients can visit and view them in a warm and friendly environment.
While the foundation of our company is based on Trust, Integrity, Passion, and Commitment, the core of our business are our opulent, ‘one-of-a-kind’ pieces. Our mission remains: to elicit joy and awe through beautiful, rare, and artistic jewelry creations.
In this blog, we will delve into the Zion Family Favorites and what sets these chosen pieces apart.
More than just our founder, Ephraim is an iconic figure and leader in the world of diamonds, precious stones, and fine jewelry. Beginning his career as a diamond cutter at the age of 14, it is safe to say that some of the world’s rarest and outstanding diamonds and gems have passed through his hands.
However, when asked about his favorite, or rather, the most impressive stone he has called his own, his response was almost instant; a 5.18 carat Oval Paraiba Tourmaline. He describes its color as so deep and saturated that to an untrained eye, it could be mistaken for a Sapphire. “What makes this gem so spectacular is that it’s flawless, devoid of any inclusions despite being totally unheated.”
“You really can’t find anything like it.” This is because the Batalha Mine in Paraiba, Brazil has been shut for the passed few years and despite great efforts, no license has been granted to continue mining it.

Hannah is the matriarch of the House and we were extremely curious to discover what her selected favorite would be. A lover of fine details and artistic jewelry creations, we were surprised to discover that her favorite item was also a loose stone; a 10.12 carat Marquise Zimmi Yellow.
Cut down from 24 carat rough, it was discovered in the Zimmi Mine in Sierra Leone. When asked what attracts her to this specific stone, Hannah told us that she’d “never come across a natural stone with a color as saturated; it’s like a fiery sun”. In fact, the color is so mesmerizing and intense that other experts in the industry often question whether its’ artificial. Ephraim added that “in all [his] 62 years in the diamond and gem industry, [he’s] never seen anything quite like it.”

The House has one item that we just knew would be a favorite; it was just a question of who would pick it and much to our surprise, it was loose stone lover, Ronen.
Aptly named ‘The Masterpiece’, the selected necklace and features 77 Afghani Emerald Polished Beads and a 75.51 carat Sugarloaf Cabochon pendant. Regarding the beaded necklace, Ronen shares his doubts at ever sourcing such an outstanding set again.
“Such a large collection of such uniform and fine quality is almost very difficult to come by, especially considering they’re only minimally oiled” (usually stones of this type are moderately to heavily oiled).
The pendant is eye-catching thanks to its sheer size and exceptional clarity.

Simon’s favorite piece wouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody that knows him well enough, as it’s been his profile photo for several years and it is a 2.05 carat Fancy Vivid Pink Emerald Cut diamond mounted in a classic three-stone setting.
Hailing from the Williamson Mine in Tanzania, this diamond possesses the most spectacular color with a very deep saturation. “Emerald cuts are notorious for their uneven color distribution throughout their table,” Simon shares, “and sourcing one that not only possesses a highly saturated color but also one that is homogeneous throughout the entirety of the stone is extremely rare.”
Accentuated by two white diamond side stones, the pink diamond pops even more!
We count ourselves fortunate to have been on such an incredible journey sourcing, designing and creating the finest jewelry and working with some of the rarest loose gems in the world. We are also thrilled to keep moving forward, bringing you more exquisite pieces.
If your heart is set on a particular loose stone, you may consider the option of creating a bespoke custom piece. The Dehres Team is here to help guide you every step of the way.
